Purple Skittles

Today I have a purple skittles mani for you.  I'm not calling it a gradient since I picked purples that were very similar to each other.
Can you tell which colors were used?

On my thumb is China Glaze Bizarre Blurple, index is Zoya Suri, middle is Zoya Mimi, ring is OPI Grape...Set...Match & on my pinkie is Zoya Aurora (I should have used Zoya Savita with topcoat instead of Aurora).  I used 2 coats of each polish with a coat of Seche Vite on top.  Bizarre Blurple & Suri could have been 1 coaters, but the other 3 needed 2 coats.  Bizarre Blurple & Suri both have a slight metallic cream finish, Mimi & Grape...Set...Match both have pink glass flecks while Mimi also has gold glass flecks & Aurora is a lighter toned purple with holographic flecks.  When I see all of these together my favorite is Bizarre Blurple--which (as you may guess) is a blue-purple.  Do you have a favorite out of these 5?

Quick haul update

Today's post is just a quick update on what I've gotten the past few days.
Cheeky summer collection plates

China Glaze Gold Fusion, Sparks Will Fly, Cast A Spell, Bizarre Blurple; Color Clue Ho-Ho-Holly, Snow-Flakes
I finally got my Cheeky stamping plates in the mail exactly 1 month after my husband ordered them "for my birthday".  I've tried out a few & I will say that it seems like the full nail images are easier for me to use than any other stamping plates I own.
I picked up the polishes yesterday & was so happy that all the China Glaze ones were on sale--with the November birthday coupon I paid $12.13  for all 6 polishes.

Different Dimension Review!

I got sent 4 new polishes from Different Dimension's Santa Baby collection to review.  All of the polishes are named from the song "Santa Baby" & she included a card with all the words on it--I love it since my family listens to that song all the time during the holidays, my in-laws have a jukebox that plays 78s & one of the records is Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby".
First up is I'll Wait Up For You Dear--red & green glitters in a clear base.
Different Dimension I'll Wait Up For You Dear

Different Dimension I'll Wait Up For You Dear
*For all of the swatches the white is Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat & the black is Wet n Wild Black Creme.*
I put 1 coat over the white & black & on my middle finger & 2 coats on my ring finger.  The glitters are plentiful & really makes you think of Christmas.  I might wear this over silver or gold for Christmas this year.
Next up is Think Of All The Fellas I Haven't Kissed--a teal, purple & holographic glitter polish in a clear base.

Different Dimension Think Of All The Fellas I Haven't Kissed
Again I used 1 coat over the black, white & on my middle fingers (the middle finger I wiped a little too much of the polish off the brush) & 2 coats on my ring finger.  This polish also gives tons of glitter.  This reminds me of snow & sugarplums.  I'd wear this year-round.
Next we have Hurry Down The Chimney Tonight--a white & red polish consisting of bar & shard glitters in a clear base.

Again, 1 coat on the white, black & middle fingers & 2 coats on my ring finger.  These glitters are more sparse, but I still love this polish.  It reminds me of peppermint bark.  My favorite is over the black since I could wear that as a full mani to cheer on the Atlanta Falcons.  *Sorry about the pictures--my camera would/could not take a horizontal picture.
And last, but not least, is I've Been An Angel All Year--a light blue, milky based polish with white, blue & holographic glitters.
Different Dimension I've Been An Angel All Year

Different Dimension I've Been An Angel All Year
Again, 1 coat was used on the white, black & middle nails & 2 coats on the ring finger.  This polish has a base that reminds me of Revlon's Whimsical.  I think this would be very pretty over a light blue.  It reminds me of snow.

All of these polishes were very easy to work with & very beautiful--I think Think Of All The Fellas That I Haven't Kissed is my favorite (& I love the name) & surprisingly I'll Wait Up For You Dear is my husband's.

You can order these polishes (& 4 others from the collection) from Missi's etsy shop.  You can also follow Different Dimension on Facebook.

*These polishes were sent to me for my honest review.*

Born Pretty Store review!

I got asked by Born Pretty Store to review a product for them.  I choose the or "glequins" because I love the looks I've seen done with them (mostly from The Nailasaurus who does amazing nails) .
First, let me show you my mani that I had on:
China Glaze Immortal with Make A Spectacle accent fingers

China Glaze Immortal with Make A Spectacle accent fingers
I used 2 coats of Immortal & it went on perfectly.  It's a wonderful grey polish with blue & some pink shimmer--I love it.  Make A Spectacle has small hex iridescent glitters & tiny iridescent glitters in a clear base & I used 1 coat for the accent fingers.
I added a line of rainbow glequins on my index nail & then a few different colors on my pinkie:

blue, clear, pink, green & gold glequins

rainbow glequins

rainbow glequins
This set of glequins comes in 12 colors & they are so easy to use--I just put a coat of clear polish on my nail, had a drop of clear polish to dip my toothpick in & then used the toothpick to pick up the glequins & put them on my nail.  The clear glequins on my pinkie didn't show up very well, but I could see them a bit better in person than in the picture.  These really do take very little time to use, but I don't know if I could cover every nail--I'll probably be using them as accent nails.  I can't wait to use these more!

Born Pretty Store has tons of great products & if you use my coupon code BPL91 you'll get 10% off your order.
*I was sent the product for my honest review.

"Halloween" nails

A quick blog post today (I'll try to get another up later on for the last Go Pink Wednesday) showing my "Halloween" nails--I actually did these on Saturday for my Halloween costume--I was a "happy little tree" & my husband was Bob Ross!
I was trying to make my nails look like tree leaves turning colors--I think they turned out really well.  & to be honest, I cheated & put this over my pink Wednesday nails that I still had on.  So, on top of my pink mani is OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys (brown) & then I sponged on Zoya Karina (red) & Pippa (yellow) & Pure Ice Poker Face (orange) & Vegas Strip (green).

Also, congrats goes out to Melanie S. who won my giveaway!  I'll be sending out the prize soon & I hope she enjoys it!

Black & Wow

Today I have a quick post showing you the mani I did on Saturday & had on until yesterday's pink Wednesday.

I started with 2 coats of Zoya Storm & then I added 1 thick-ish coat of KleanColor Chunky Holo Black over it.  I wish I could capture the rainbow color shifting loveliness of this, but my camera sucks & the sun hasn't really been out for a few days here.  I got so many compliments on this from ladies at bingo, the bar & when I had to get my cholesterol & whatnot checked (also got asked if they were fake & had the lady tell her friend "she said they're her real nails & she just painted them", lol).  I know I'll be trying this same combo with Zoya Aurora & KleanColor Chunky Holo Bluebell (I don't have purple).
*Don't forget to enter my giveaway, there's still about 4 1/2 days left!

Go Pink Wednesday!

I misses last Go Pink Wednesday & today's post is going to be short, but it's still Wednesday!

Today's nails are simple yet pretty:
China Glaze Exquisite with Make A Spectacle
I used 3 coats of China Glaze Exquisite from their United In Purpose collection--the formula is perfect & the color is a lighter pink shimmer with white shimmer in it.  I love this color.  I did 1 coat of China Glaze Make A Spectacle on my ring & middle fingers for an accent.

Let's Have A Giveaway!

As a thank you to all of my followers here on my blog (SO close to 100!) & on my Facebook page (over 125!) I am having a giveaway, but the prize is a surprise.  I really do hope that the winner will like it & at least comment on my blog & let everyone know what they got (or write a small blog/Facebook post on it).

Anyway, it will be from 12:01 am on Oct. 21 until 12:01 am on Oct. 31.  Both of these dates are special to me--my paternal Grandma & Grandpa got married on Oct. 21, 1950.  My Grandma was always the person who meant the world to me & I've missed her like crazy the last 10+ years since she passed away (I have a tattoo on my wrist of her first name in her handwriting).  I never got to know my Grandpa because he drowned when my dad was only 3, but I have been told that he really loved my Grandma.  October 31 is Halloween of course, but it's also my mom's birthday & I make her homemade lasagna every year.

*Open to US residents only--sorry to everyone not in the US, but I'd rather not deal with sending polish out of the country.
*I'm not responsible if the package gets damaged on its way to you (I honestly hope it doesn't!).
*The winner will be chosen within 48 hours of the giveaway closing & will have 24 hours to respond back.  If the winner does not respond within 24 hours I will choose a new winner until the prize is claimed.

Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012

Today I'm going to step out of my normal nail polish world  show you the contents of my Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012!

I haven't learned 100% how to navigate through the new site, but from what I can tell it works pretty well.  I don't see why my score doesn't go up even after I don't reviews and whatnot, but I've read that a lot of people are having trouble with that.  If any of you are honestly interested in signing up please send me your email--I think I have 5 invites to use.

My first Influenster box!

Contents of the Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012

Starting off we have NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact in Dark Shadows( $4.99):
The card that came in the box listing each item has this written on it: "This all-in-one compact comes with everything you need for a complete eye look: primer, illuminator, applicator and complementing shadows.  With four colors, specially coordinated to intensify and enhance your eye color, you can create a look as individual as you are.  Make your eyes pop!"

To be honest I suck at putting on/using makeup.  I normally don't even wear it unless I'm going out or something & then it's a basic eyeshadow, mascara & some mineral foundation (or whatever it's called, lol).  I did apply these eyeshadows this morning (using the directions that are on the back, which I really like) & even though I think it looks like I have 2 black eyes, I've kept them on for the past 7 hours & they're staying pretty well.  The one thing I really don't like is the applicator--is there any way to actually make eyeshadow look good with those little sponges?  These are super pigmented & I think they would be best for teens & females who want to try new makeup looks with spending a ton of money.
NYC IndividualEyes Dark Shadows swatched on the back of my hand

Next up is the Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit ($5.99):
Here's what the card says: "Bring the salon home with this eyelash starter kit, complete with eyelashes, adhesive, and applicator.  This latex-free glue has a 24-hour hold, for lashes you can bat all day and all night."

I've worn false lashes once in my life & that was about 9 years ago for Halloween.  The funny thing is, I was planning on wearing false lashes this Halloween & now I have 3 sets (none that I've bought).  I plan on wearing these for Halloween since they're the fullest so I'll let you know how they were after I wear them.

Bath & Body Works Mini Candles in Mahogany Teakwood ($3.50):
"Mini but mighty!  Bath & Body Works Mini Candles provide an amazing fragrance experience exclusively developed and tested by a team of Home Fragrance experts, including the world's best master perfumers."

The scent of this candle isn't something I would normally pick out, but it isn't bad.  I haven't lighted it yet (with 3 cats  we need to watch candles), but the scent is strong yet not overpowering.  I also got sent a $10 3 wick candle which I'd love to use, but the closest B&BW is over an hour from me & I'd rather not order a candle online when I don't know what it smells like & I'd have to pay for shipping--a trip to Madison might be coming this weekend or next (I haven't used my Sally's birthday coupon this month & it's my actual birthday month).

EBOOST in orange ($28 for box of 20 effervescent powders, $39 for box of 30 effervescent powders, $39 for box of 12 shots):
"EBOOST will boost your mood, focus, and immunity with natural ingredients and no crash.  As a shot or an easy-to-mix powder and in four flavors, you'll feel great whether you choose Orange, Pink Lemonade, Acai Pomegranate, or Super Berry."

I don't take stuff like this ever, I just never know if it has extra caffeine which gives me huge headaches if I have too much.  I'm going to have my husband take this & let you know what he says.
**Our son & I both took a sip before my husband drank it--it tastes like salty orange to me; my son said it's okay, but the after taste is gross & my husband said it's okay, but tastes like the orange stuff they use to clean your teeth.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin ($7.29):
"Never have the time for a great updo?  Not  anymore!  the Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin allows you to easily achieve three chic updo styles.  Simply twirl your hair up and spin the two Spin Pins in for a perfect undone bun, side bun or double bun!"

I'm not even going to take these out of the package, not because I don't think they would work, but because I have very fine, straight hair & it's in a chin length bob--I know I don't have enough hair for these.  Goody does have a set of 3 smaller Spin Pins that I might buy to try out because I think they'd work better with my hair.  This will be going into my swap items.

Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream ($6.00 for full sized 4-oz bottle):
"Kinky Moves is infused with natural grape seed & jasmine to encourage natural curls and eliminate frizz and fly-aways."

Like I said above, my hair is very fine & straight so I would never use this.  Even though it's not opened it still smells really good.  This will also be going up for swap.

I did receive a bonus item with my box.  The Vitabath Fragrance Mist in Green Tea & Sage (no price on the card, but on their website they are $9.99):
"Vitabath presents a new line of lightweight Fragrance Mists in 16 fabulous scents.  This revitalizing, weightless formula is infused with conditioning vitamins ans a unique antioxidant blend to keep your skin refreshed and happy.  Smell absolutely delicious with Vitabath!"

This mist, which isn't a scent I would normally pick out, has a strong (not overpowering) scent that lasts for hours.  The green tea is present when first sprayed, but I can't smell it after a few minutes.  The mist does leave your skin feeling softer & the smell isn't sickly sweet like some mists that smell like only teens should wear them.  I would really like to try a different scent that I might actually use daily like Luscious Lemon Creme or Pomegranate & Blood Orange.

Overall I'm very happy with the products I received & I hope that I get to review other boxes from Influenster.

Zoya Ornate Collection

I was so surprised (& honored) last week to get an email from Zoya saying that I could get the entire Ornate Collection for review!
The Zoya Ornate Collection can be found here for $8 each.
Zoya Ornate Collection
Zoya Ziv

Zoya Ziv

Zoya Ziv
Ziv is a gold foil with silver shimmer.  I used 2 coats for full coverage & no topcoat.  I'm not a big yellow gold person, but I can see myself wearing this polish, it's honestly the best gold polish I've ever owned.

Zoya Logan

Zoya Logan
Logan is a festive forest green foil with gold shimmer.  I used 3 coats for full coverage & no topcoat.  Green is my favorite color & I do like the polish, but I wish a company would make a green with shimmer that ISN'T gold.  A blue or pink or purple shimmer would be very nice (& unique).  I would have rather seen this polish have the micro holographic glitter like the next 3 polishes do--I think green polishes get the short end of the stick a lot of the time.

Zoya Blaze

Zoya Blaze
Blaze is a raspberry red jelly-like polish with micro holographic glitter.  I used 3 coats for full coverage & no topcoat.  I do think that the holographic glitter sinks a bit in this polish when it's on the nail, but it is still very sparkly & pretty.

Zoya Storm

Zoya Storm

Zoya Storm--blurry to show glitter
Storm is a black based polish with tons micro holographic glitter.  I used 3 coats for full coverage & no topcoat.  This polish is a very "wearable" black--it's not too dense in color & the holographic glitter shows amazingly.  I'm sure I'll be wearing this one a lot.

Zoya Aurora

Zoya Aurora

Zoya Aurora--blurred to show glitter
Aurora is a plum based polish with tons of micro holographic glitter.  I used 3 coats for full coverage & no topcoat.  This is probably my favorite of the collection as well as my husband's.
Zoya Electra over Storm, Aurora, Logan, Blaze & Ziv
Electra is a clear based polish with small holographic bar glitter.  I used 1 thick coat & no topcoat.  Zoya describes this polish as "a micro fine diamond holographic glitter mixed with large silver holographic bar tinsel in a clear base", but there is no micro fine diamond holographic glitter in the mix--when I didn't see it on the nail I swatched a bit on a piece of white paper & there's nothing except bar glitter.  This polish isn't very unique, but it is pretty, but you can find basically the same thing from a drugstore polish.

All in all I really liked this collection.  I do wish Zoya would change Electra & add in the micro holographic glitter so it's a little more unique.  Which ones will you be getting?
*These polishes were sent to me for my honest review.
