New storage!

While I was in Madison this last weekend for state wrestling I went to Michael's to see if I could find a "melmer".  I'm not sure why they are nicknamed that besides it rhymes with helmer which you can find at Ikea.  I've seen melmers online, but always put together so I wasn't 100% sure what I was looking for when it came to the box so I got the only 3 drawer storage unit that they had (I really wanted 2 of them since I already have 250+ polishes) & prayed it would be the right one.  It was a pretty good deal at $20.99.  I did buy some non-slip mat & used double sided tape to hold it to the drawer bottoms so the bottles wouldn't move around.
Michael's "melmer" in box
It only took me about an hour to put it together myself & it's pretty easy (the stickers they label each part with were a bitch to peel off).
Melmer put together
I have almost all of my polishes in there except a few of my old ones that I don't ever use & are in a small basket.
drawer 1 (square bottle polishes)

drawer 3 (Sinful Colors, Spoiled...)

drawer 2 (China Glaze, OPI, Orly...)
I really want to find another one of these (would have bought another if Michael's would have had another)--I'm planning on going on a nail polish shopping spree next month & I hope I'll need another after that, lol.
I also forgot to put these nail decals in my last post--I picked them up at Claire's when I got the bottles of Candy Shop.  I love the mustache design & my father-in-law has a pretty amazing 'stache & his 60th b-day is in May & since my bf & his brothers are growing out their 'staches to honor him I figured I'd do what I could & wear mustache nail decals along with a mustache ring & necklace.  :o)

Look what I found!

My son had state wrestling this weekend (lost his first 2 matches & was eliminated, but I'm so proud he made it to state for the second year in a row!) so I got a chance to shop for some polish.  Here's what I picked up (sorry about the pictures, took them quick tonight after we got home):
Spoiled Trust Fund  Baby, Shrimp On The Barbie, Did I Dye It Too Blonde?
& I found these (which I never thought I would):
4 Revlon Whimsical, 4 Claire's Candy Shop
I've read these are both dupes of Deborah Lippmann polishes.  1 trip to Claire's & a trip to 2 different ShopKo's & I got these.  I'll be keeping 1 of each for myself (besides being dupes I do like how they both look), but I'm not sure what I'll do with the others.  Is there still interest in these?
I also picked up a "melmer" from Michael's (or what I think is a melmer--hope I got the right thing!).

St. Patrick's Day mani & new polishes (pic heavy)

I love St. Patrick's Day, but this year mine was pretty lame.  Long story short I didn't wear what I had planned, I didn't drink as much as I had planned & my mani wasn't what I had planned (but I still love it).  I started off with a coat of L.A. Colors basecoat topcoat then 2 coats of Orly Lucky Duck & let it dry a bit before adding Julep Fast Dry Topcoat (not sure how well it worked considering it still dented after 10 minutes) & then a coat of Essie A Cut Above.  I love pink & green together.
2 coats Orly Lucky Duck & 1 coat Essie A Cut Above
Friday I bought a little table to use when I paint my nails, it's really cute so I'm adding a photo.
On Saturday I got 2 packages in the mail from a friend of mine who sent me polish (including my first Orly & Spoiled polishes!).  Here's what I got:

(cropped this picture, not exactly what I wanted the out come to be)

Orly Luxe, Shine, Rage, Flirty, Peachy Parrot, Lucky Duck, Sweet Peacock

Essie Shine of the Times, A Cut Above

Nicole by OPI Disco Dolls, OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam!, Metallic 4 Life

China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Skyscraper

Spoiled Shuffle The Deck, Ants In My Pants, Pet My Peacock, Jewelry Heist
Today I got 3 different packages of polish in the mail!  First off, I had a lovely lady (Tina Burnett) send my Green Ocean from Sinful Colors because she saw on Facebook that I couldn't find it!  Thank you so much Tina!
Sinful Colors Green Ocean
My next package is from Zoya & the buy 3 get 3 free promo they had.  I'm up to 60 Zoya polishes now!
Zoya Chloe, Opal, Maisie, Purity, Lotus, Tru
& last, but not least is my St. Patrick's Day mystery box from Julep.  Yes, I am pissed that it got here AFTER the holiday it was meant for.  I understand that a lot of the boxes weighed more than normal & all that, but they still could have sold them sooner so everyone would get them for the holiday.  Mine included about $80 worth of stuff & to be honest the only thing I like is Sofia so I may be open for trades (read after the picture).
Julep Glenn, Sofia, Emma, basecoat, Glow On, Facials For Hands, glass file, chocolate coins
I'm pretty sure I'll never use the Glow On age defying hand brightener or the Facials For Hands glycolic hand scrub (1 oz. each, $17.60 on Julep's site) & I would LOVE to trade them for Portia, Anne or Taylor.  I'd also be willing to trade away the file ($6) & *maybe* the polishes except Sofia, but I would like to trade away the 2 creams before anything else.  Comment below or send me an email at if you're interested in trading.  Thanks!

Messed up mani & new polish

Yesterday I was in a hurry & decided to throw on Sinful Colors Cinderella.  Not a good idea considering it took 3 coats to look somewhat opaque--I got tons of dents while trying to get ready for my hair appointment (plus side is my hair dresser said she loves my nails & that they always look so good, lol).  I added polish to the dents & most look fine now except my left hand middle finger so I added A Million Sparkles from Nicole by OPI that I picked up today (passed over Fabulous is My Middle Name which I'm kicking myself for--may have to go back & get it).  Cinderella is a light blue polish with pink shimmer.  It went on decent, but took 3 coats to cover to where you see it in the pictures.  I need to wear this again when I can take more time painting my nails (& letting them dry).
Sinful Colors Cinderella (sunlight) pink shimmer can be seen best in this picture

I'm excited to try this matte polish (may later over my Cinderella mani).  Yes, it was pretty cheap from Walmart (under $2.50), but the only other matte topcoat I own (Hard Candy mattely in love) pulled the color off my nails when I used it.

More Sinful Colors

On Saturday my son went to regionals for wrestling.  He took 3rd place in a 4 man bracket so he's an alternate for state, last night we got the call that for his age & weight the bracket was 3 kids short so he's now going to state!  He's only been in wrestling for 2 years (he's almost 9) & he's went to state both years--I'm so proud of him!  **Side note--I put Essie Orange, It's Obvious! over my Island Coral mani since I was too lazy to redo my nails just for wrestling & the color & formula are AMAZING!  It's shiny as all hell without a topcoat--I'll be wearing it for my state wrestling mani in 2 weeks so I'll take pics then.**
Since we were in a different town for regionals I went & checked out a Walgreen's that was nearby & picked up 3 more Sinful Colors.  I REALLY want to get Green Ocean (part of the St. Patty's Day display)--if any of you find it could you pick it up for me?

Sinful Colors Island Coral & Pinky Glitter, Essie order

First off I want to show you my first ever Essie polishes that I got from my first ever order.  I got these with a code for $20 off that I read afterwards was leaked so I got these for $9.94 with shipping.  Shipping was amazing--1 day!  I'm sure I'll order from again.
Essie A Crewed Interest, Navigate Her, Orange, It's Obvious!
I really wanted to try out some more of the polishes I bought last weekend.  When I took off the Nabi magnetic polish (still don't know the name if there is one) it had stained my nails.  I should have used a basecoat, but I was in a hurry.  Even though I REALLY want to put on some green polish (green is my favorite color) I'm waiting for next weekend & St. Patty's Day so I decided on Sinful Colors Island Coral.  I had on 1 coat of L.A. Colors basecoat topcoat & then did 2 coats of Island Coral.  The first coat went on a bit streaky & even a little watery, but when I put on the second coat it was a bit thick (yes, this doesn't make sense), but it did even out & cover well.  I added Pinky Glitter on my ring finger just as an accent.  I love these colors & this combo even though it looks a tad weird with my skin tone (my boyfriend hates the color, but he's pretty bias towards dark colors most of the time).  Sorry about the pictures, I just couldn't get a good shot.  Do you wear colors even if they don't really look right with your skin tone?

Weekend haul & magnetic Nabi

After my son's wrestling tournament this past Sunday we stopped at Walgreen's so I could see what nail polishes I could find & I bought 10, lol.  I don't normally do that.  Here are the bottle shots:
magnetic Nabi & Sinful Colors

Nabi (no name), Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter, Island Coral, Innocent, Olympia

Sinful Colors Greek Isles, Cinderella, Grecian Sun, Neptune, Kissy
The magnetic Nabi is my first Nabi polish & my first magnetic polish so I really wanted to try it out.  I can't find a name anywhere on the bottle & I don't know if the polishes were named on the display or not (I hate when polishes don't have names, even if they're stupid ones).  I found the brush a bit weird to hold since it's so big & the brush was a lot bigger than I like.  The polish is thicker than most polishes, but did cover in one coat.  Working nail by nail I painted, flipped the brush over since the magnet is on the top of the cap (a bit awkward) & held it over the nail.  The design (diagonal) came up on my nails alright, but since my nails curve & aren't flat only the tops/middle of most of my nails got any design.  I tried only painting half my left thumb nail & doing the design & then doing the other half, but i didn't have the magnet going in the same direction so the design made more of a V shape.  My left pointer nail hardly has any design at all (I did accidently touch the magnet to my nail).  I really do like the color of this polish & if you can get it to work it looks really neat.  The polish was also $4.99 which is a lot cheaper than what I've seen a lot of magnetic polishes going for.  Overall I like this, but I would like it if the magnets came curved & not on the bottle.  Also, I already have some chips (no topcoat).  Sorry about the picture, I took it quick before my son's practice.  What's your take on magnetic polishes?
blue magnetic Nabi (no name).  1 coat, no topcoat in artificial light & no flash.

Pure Ice Hot Tomale

Just a quick post of the mani I did this weekend--Pure Ice Hot Tomale.  It matched my sweater on Saturday (got asked if my nails were fake & if I had them done--I love that) & worked really well for my son's wrestling tournament on Sunday since his school colors are black & orange (I was going to add black crackle for Sunday, but never got around to it).  This color went on really well.  I could have gotten away with 1 coat, but put on 2.  No topcoat & I barely have tip wear today.  Does anyone else paint their nails school colors?

Pure Ice Hot Tomale
I did buy 10 polishes on Sunday after the tournament since the town we were in has a Walgreen's (yes, I'm 30+ minutes away from a Walgreen's even!)--I'll post the bottle shots either tonight or tomorrow & maybe even have a new mani with them.
