Glue base coat

So I've been seeing people post pictures from Pinterest (I think) where it shows to use plain white glue as a "base coat" for glitter manis so you can just peel them off instead of scrubbing or using the foil method.  I don't know who came up with the idea so I can't give credit, but I figured I'd try it & see if it would work.
I started off by putting a coat of Elmer's Glue-All Multi-Purpose Glue.  I don't have an empty nail polish bottle to put the glue in so I just put a blob on paper & used the paint brush that comes with the cheap water colors to spread it on.  I let it fully dry & then pull on 5 different glitter polishes (to see if it would work for different sized glitters & whatnot) with a top coat of Seche Vite:
Thumb-pinkie: NYX Girls Dorothy, Rainbow Honey Hoof Wrassle, KleanColor City Never Sleeps, China Glaze Electrify, OPI Metallic 4 Life
After they dried I took a toothpick & started to peel from my cuticle until I could grab the polish & peel it away.
Peeled off polishes

As you can see they all came off & I hardly have any polish left on my nails to clean up:
IT WORKS!  The next time I'm going to put on a glitter mani I will try this again (since I didn't wear it for any amount of time).  Have you/will you try this?

Shimmery rainbow

I've had the idea for this mani in my head for awhile (if you haven't noticed, I'm a *bit* obsessed with rainbows), but again it didn't turn out how I had pictured it, but I don't hate it.
Shimmery rainbow
Sorry about the crappy indoor/artificial light picture (I need to stop being lazy & make a light box).  I started off with a coat of L.A. Colors basecoat topcoat & then did 3 coats of each of the following colors (thumb-pinkie): Spoiled Shrimp On The Barbie, Spoiled Vitamin C, Funky Fingers Belle, Funky Fingers Pixy Dust & Pure Ice In The Mood.  Honestly, all of these colors applied lovely & basically have the same formulas.  The Spoiled polishes do have way wider brushes that I'm not really fond of.  I freehand added OPI Grape...Set...Match to the tips (gotta have purple to complete the rainbow!) & added a coat of Seche Vite.
I decided to add some purple dots to add a little more character:
I like these, but I don't love them like I thought I would.  Also, does anyone know if these Funky Fingers colors (the yellow & green) are dupes for the yellow & green in the Color Club Take Wing collection?  They look like they could be.
I might take the plunge & try to do a water marble mani for this weekend--wish me luck!

Another Zoya haul!

This is just a quick post of the Zoya polishes I bought when they had their latest BOGO sale.  The only reason I got these is because my wonderful husband let me use his gift card he got from work :o).
Zoya Elisa, Song, Suri, Ray, Noot, Evvie

Zoya Paloma, Frida, Katherine, Natty, Monica, Daul
When I showed my husband these & asked what he thought he was like "these are awesome", lol.  I thought his favorite would be Song since he loves blue, but his favorites were Elisa & Suri (& neither of us really care for red).
& of course I need to include an updated picture of my Zoya/Julep polish drawer.  99 Zoyas--I'd really love to get Harlow to complete my matte collection, but when I can find it the price is $15+.
Did you order anything from this BOGO sale?

Not what I wanted

Today I have 2 manis to show you that, IMO, are both fails.  I hate when I have an idea in my head & when I go to do it it doesn't turn out like I want.
Up first is a mani I tried to do because I thought my husband would like it:
I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Adore since blue is his favorite color.  I have a few polishes from this collection (Romantique I think) even though I really don't care for this type of finish (I *hate* seeing brush strokes).  I was going to stamp hearts along with the key (in Color Club Antiquated--didn't fully turn out), but I couldn't pick them up (I was trying to use Color Club Hot Like Lava) so I put on a coat of NOPI Honey-Dew You Love Me? &, since I did this at night, didn't know that it turned Adore into some weird greenish color.  This was a total fail for me besides the fact of my husband saying he likes Adore.
Next up I wanted to do something simple yet not plain for this weekend so I came up with this last night:

I used 2 coats of China Glaze Pelican Gray & then sponged on Essie Stroke of Brilliance (blue) & A Cut Above (pink) on the tips.  I don't hate this (my husband kinda does because of the tips), but it's not really what I was wanting either.  I still haven't decided if I'll take this off or not--depends how lazy I am & what we're planning to do this weekend (nothing much, I know that).

Shiny tips & Copious finds

Last night before going to sleep I decided to paint my nails black & I figured I'd do something with them today.
Misa Black Out
I put 1 coat of Misa Black Out over 1 coat of NYC Grand central Station.  I bought black out before I ever even thought about starting a blog since it's supposed to be matte, but it has more of a rubber/satin finish to it.  It does cover in 1 coat, which I like.  Excuse the blanket marks on my pinkie & I don't know how my index nail already chipped, but it helped me figure out what to do with my mani:
Misa Black Out & Color Club Hot Like Lava
I free-handed Color Club Hot Like Lava to the tips (forgive the crappiness of the free handing!).  I really like this look & if I was actually going to be wearing this for long I would either use guides for the tips or take a bit more time doing them.  My husband (who basically hates any sort of "French tips") said these were okay, lol.
& here's what I've gotten from (got the last one in the mail today):
Pretty & Polished Hearts & Daggers, Rainbow Honey Hoof Wrassle, Orly Fresh, Essie Bikini So Teeny, Zoya Feifei, L.A. Colors silver
The L.A. Colors wasn't from, it was from the dollar store & the rest came from mine, my husband's, my mom's, my dad's & my brother's copious accounts (yes, they signed up to enable me, lol).  Re-counted my polishes & I'm up to 481 now.

Let's compare! (Also, blogger help needed)

Sorry I've been MIA (& if you saw on my Facebook page--which you all should like--I did say I'd have this post up yesterday, so sorry about that too), but I did get married while out East & then after we got back my husband had knee surgery & I got sick & then he also got sick.  We're doing better now & he went back to the doctor today & got his stitches out.
I decided to do a post comparing the rainbow glitter polishes I have.  I keep buying them & still want others (*DL Happy Birthday & OPI Rainbow Connection*), but I don't ever wear them & really had no clue what each looked like on the nail.
Can you name the glitters?
I put 1 coat of glitter over 2 coats of Essie Marshmallow since I wanted the glitters to pop & to see if the base coats had any tint.  Here are the glitters I used & what I think of each:
Thumb: Confetti Tazmanian Devil.  This one was my favorite (& my husband's too).  It has micro, small & medium glitters & the colors I could see were silver, light blue, pink/purple, green, orange & gold.  This was pretty smooth when it dried, it probably wouldn't need a top coat.  It was also pretty easy to take off.
Index: Funky Fingers Confetti.  This one is all medium glitters & the colors I could see were silver, light blue, pink/purple, green, orange & gold.  I like this one, but I do like having different sized glitters.  This one was a bit rough & would need a top coat, but came off pretty easily.
Middle: Jordana Gemstones.  This one has small & medium glitters & the colors I could see were red, gold, green, blue, pink/purple & silver (more colors than I could tell were actually in it--maybe I need better lighting).  This one clumped up a bit while putting it on & is rough & would need a top coat.  This one was a pain to take off.
Ring: Nicole by OPI Rainbow In The S-Kylie.  This one has small, medium & large glitters in it.  The large glitters (from what I could see) were only silver.  The other glitters were silver, light blue, pink/purple, orange, green & gold.  This one is rough & would need a top coat & was also a pain to take off.
Pinkie: NYX Girls Carnival.  This one has small & medium glitters, but you don't get as many out as some of the others.  The colors I saw were red, gold, green, blue, orange, pink/purple & silver.  This one is the smoothest & wouldn't need a top coat.  Was easy to take off.
I hope this comparison helps someone, lol.  I'm going to have to make sure to actually use these for a mani one of these days.  Which one is your favorite?

**Blogger help**
If someone could please send me directions as to how I can add a wish list, trade list & stash list to the top of my blog I would be so grateful!  I keep trying & I can't get it & I'm afraid I'm just going to mess up my blog.  Thanks for any & all help!

Major Haul!

My bf, our son & I went over to the East Coast for a couple of days & when we got back into Chicago on Thursday we went to a couple of nail supply stores & I picked up some polishes from my want list.  Here's my haul (including some other polishes I got in the last few days):
Julep Sandra, Rachel, Megan, Jessica, basecoat; Sally Hansen Green Chrome pen; Sally Hansen Salon Effects Headbanger
The Julep polishes are from the It Girl mystery box that was waiting for me when I got home.  The pen I got at Five Below for $1 (I've read they are good for stamping) & the nail strips I found in Rhode Island somewhere for $3.
Essie Marshmallow, Stroke of Brilliance; Nicole by OPI Make A Comet-Ment, Honey-Dew You Love Me?; Confetti Tazmanian Devil; Funky Fingers Confetti, Belle, Pixy Dust
I picked up Marshmallow at one of the nail supply stores since I've read it's a great white polish & Stroke of Brilliance I got at Walgreen's.  Tazmanian Devil was picked up at CVS & the NOPI & Funky Fingers polishes were all bought at Five Below.  The rest of the polishes in the post all came from the nail polish supply stores.
Color Club Hot Like Lava, Foil Me Once, Antiquated, Perfect Mol-TEN, Lumin-ICEcent, Cold Metal, Wish Upon A Rock-Star, Gingerbread
China Glaze Full Spectrum, Liquid Crystal, Prism, Techno, Snow Globe, Luxe & Lush

China Glaze Love Marilyn, Blonde Bombshell, Lorelei's Tiara, Marry A Millionaire, Material Girl, Some Like It Haute

China Glaze The Ten Man, Golden Enchantment, Electrify, Doll House, Riveting, Ghoulish Glow

China Glaze Sunshine Pop, Gaga For Green, Grape Pop, Trendsetter, Westside Warrior, Outta Bounds

China Glaze Emotion, Adore, Cling On, Pull Me Close, Drawn To You, nail lacquer magnets; Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
Wow, that's a lot of polish!  Obviously I don't normally get this much polish all at once--I've been waiting to go to the nail polish supply stores for months.  I can't wait to try these--I'm so freakin' excited, lol.  I got 3 magnets because they're included in the price of the magnetix polish.  What's your favorite polish I got?  I honestly can't choose--I really wish I had more nails, lol.
**P.S.--I LOVED Boston & the East Coast (Fenway Park!!!  The Red Sox lost, but I was still there!), I think I could live there.

Last night I decided to try my hand at some full nail stamping (you know, the bigger stamps that are supposed to cover your whole nail) because I'm pretty bad at it.  Here's how it turned out (sorry for the blurry pics, didn't know they were  that bad until right now):
stamping over my cling film mani

close up of thumb
As you can see it's not the greatest (I tried stamping with pink over my index finger--that's what you see under the crooked "waves"), but it's the best I've done so far.  The thumb was *almost* perfect.  I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White & it worked really well--I'll use it again for stamping.  Any tips on how to make the full nail stamping look good?
We're leaving tomorrow to go to Boston for a couple of days (including a Red Sox game at Fenway!) & I have no idea what to wear on my nails (kinda just want to put 1 think on & leave it the whole time).

Cling film mani

I've seen the cling film/Saran Wrap mani on a few different blogs (sorry, I don't remember which ones, but I'm sure you could just google it) & decided to try it.
I started with a base color of Sinful Colors Irish Green (3 coats):
Sinful Colors Irish Green (indoors, natural light)
I didn't use it over a white since I knew I was going to add a color over it.  I decided to layer sinful Colors Why Not over Irish Green (I like the green/blue combo).  I put a few drops of Why Not on a piece of wax paper & took a small piece of cling film & balled it up, dipped it into Why Not & then dabbed it a few times on the wax paper before I started to dab my nails.  Here is what I ended up with after clean up & a coat of Seche Vite on top:
Sinful Colors Irish Green & Why Not (outdoors, sunlight)

Sinful Colors Irish Green & Why Not (indoors, natural light)
I don't know if this is exactly what it's supposed to look like, but I like the effect & how it turned out.  I'll probably do this type of mani again with different color combos.

An indie & a lemming

Today I have for you 365 Days of Color Funfetti.  I love this color (& others like it)--it really does look like Funfetti frosting (when my brother saw my nails that's the first thing he said).
365 Days of Color Funfetti
This was my first time using Funfetti & as much as I love the look of this polish, it was a pain in the ass to put on!  This is 2 coats (with a coat of Seche Vite over it), but the polish is thick & the glitter clumps really bad (probably because it is so thick).  I need to ask 365 Days of Color if I can add some thinner to it--I really don't want to mess up a $10+ bottle of polish.
I finally got my last polish from HUGE lemming for me:
OPI I Lily Love You
I'm SO happy I finally got this polish!  When my bf saw it he said "don't you have a polish exactly like that?"  What does he know?  I did put this on over my pedi of China Glaze Strawberry Fields & it looks AMAZING.  I almost took a picture to post on here, but I really don't care for feet & I know a lot of other people don't either so I'll just do the combo as a mani at some point.
I'd REALLY like to have a giveaway once I reach 150 followers on here & at least 50 on my Facebook page.
