Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape collection review

*These polishes were sent to me for my honest review*

Today I have three polishes from Rainbow Honey's Summer Mixtape collection.
Rainbow Honey Control with Elevate accent nail
Control is a bright fuchsia (way brighter than my picture) with purple/pink micro flakie/shimmer.  I used 2 coats, but could have gotten away with 1 slightly thicker coat.  I did add a topcoat because it dries a bit matte (as most neon polishes do).  Not something I would probably wear for a mani, but I would as a pedi. I would love to see some amazing stamping over this polish though (maybe I should actually work on that??).
Rainbow Honey Stolen Dance with Elevate accent nail
Stolen Dance is a pale pistachio green with pink micro flakie/shimmer.  I used 2 coats, but I could have added another (I use pretty thin coats).  This also dried slightly matte so I used a topcoat.
China Glaze Grape Pop with Elevate accent nails
Elevate is a great glitter topper.  It's mainly has light blue glitters, but also has yellow, green, white & pink glitters all in a pink/blue shimmery base.  There's hexs, circles, squares & triangles.  I used it over China Glaze Grape Pop a few weeks ago when we went to a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis--the ribbon color for it is purple.  I love this topper & think it would look great over a bunch of colors.

These & seven other polishes from this collection (along with many other beautiful polishes) are available for $10 each over at  If you use code MIXTAPE20 you'll get 20% off of your order (code expires 8/31/2014 so HURRY!).

Zoya Magical PixieDust summer 2014

*These polishes were sent to me for my honest review*

Today I have for you the three summer 2014 Magical PixieDust polishes from Zoya.  As much as I like the PixieDust polishes for quick manis when I don't have a lot of time, I do prefer the "normal" ones over the "magical" ones with holographic glitter.

Zoya Bar with Ginni accent nail
Bar is a nude, slight gold tone.  I used 3 coats (2 coats when I first did my mani, then I added another coat before I took the picture).
Zoya Ginni with Bar accent nail
Ginni is a light pink.  I really like the color of this polish, it's what I wish Lux would have been (Lux was too "dirty" looking for me).  Again, I used 2 coats when I first put on this mani (we were leaving to go school shopping for my son) & then added another coat before the picture was taken to freshen it up.
Zoya Arlo
Arlo is a light violet.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.  I'm not really sure why there's a pink & a purple in this collection when there's another pink toned Magical PixieDust (Lux), I would have liked to see a true blue or red or orange (okay, anything besides pink or purple).

These polishes are $10 each & can be bought from

Zoya Bubbly collection

*These polishes were sent to me for review*

Today I have Zoya's Bubbly collection for review.  I used 2 coats for each of the colors.  I wanted to compare the colors & I used 3 coats for each accent nail.  I didn't use topcoat.
Zoya Harper with Binx accent nail (ring finger)
Harper is a cotton candy pink shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  I think it looks a lot like Binx--enough to where I don't think you'd *need* each polish (you know, unless you're polish obsessed like some people...).
Zoya Jesy with Alma accent nail
Jesy is a coral-orange shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  Jesy is more orange than Alma so I can see buying both.
Zoya Alma with Jesy accent nail
Alma is a yellow-orange shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  Alma is more yellow toned than Jesy is.
Zoya Stassi with Muse accent nail
Stassi (Staasi on my label) is a citron green shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  I added the accent nail just to show it with another polish from the collection.  I really like blues & greens together so I really like this look & would wear it as a full mani.
Zoya Muse with Stassi accent nail
Muse is a candy blue shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  Again, I used the accent nail just to show the combo, not to compare the colors.  I would wear this on the opposite hand an the Stassi with Muse accent--love the colors together.
Zoya Binx with Harper accent nail
Binx is a light purple shimmer/glitter jelly based polish.  Binx is slightly more purple-toned than Harper, but I would have liked to see more of a difference between the two.

These polishes are available for $9 each from

Zoya Tickled collection

*These polishes were sent to me for review*

Today I'm reviewing Zoya's Tickled collection.  Zoya cream polishes are by far my favorite polishes ever texture-wise, but my nails were weird when I swatched these so I did use topcoat for all swatched, but these polishes are very shiny on their own.  The photos are also not color-accurate, most aren't as bright as the colors are in real life.
Zoya Kitridge
Kitridge (it says Kirtridge on my label) is a bubblegum pink cream.  I used 3 coats for full coverage, but I honestly think you could get away with 2 coats if you were careful (again, my nails were weird & I probably didn't wait long enough between coats to where it pulled a bit).
Zoya Rooney
Rooney is a magenta pink cream.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.
Zoya Wendy
Wendy is a melon cream.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.
Zoya Rocha
Rocha is a red-orange cream.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.  I love this polish even though it's not normally a color I would gravitate towards.
Zoya Tilda
Tilda is a grass green cream.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.  This is my favorite from the collection--I was so happy to see another green cream from Zoya besides Josie (which I love).
Zoya Ling
Ling is a bright royal blue cream.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.  This polish is just the perfect blue cream. Love.

As much as I like this collection I wish there wasn't three pink-toned polishes (even though they look nothing alike).
This collection is available for $9 each at

Zoya Awaken collection & Monet

*These polishes were sent to me for review*

I know I'm very late in getting these reviews out, but life happens.  Today I'll be showing Zoya's Awaken collection along with Monet, a glitter topcoat.
Zoya Dot with Monet accent
Dot is a light pink cream.  I used 3 coats & it went on lovely.  Very shiny without having to use top coat.
Zoya Cole with Monet accent
Cole is a light peach/orange cream.  I used 3 coats without topcoat.
Zoya Brooklyn with Monet accent
Brooklyn is a yellow/gold shimmer/metallic & was my least favorite from this collection.  I don't normally like gold anyway, but I just don't think this color fits in with the rest of the polishes--I think there should have been a more yellow polish (perhaps a light yellow?).  I used 2 coats & it was streaky & shows brush strokes.
Zoya Dillon with Monet accent
Dillon is a minty green metallic with silver shimmer.  This one surprised me by being more sheer than I would have thought--I needed 3 coats for full coverage.
Zoya Rebel with Monet accent
Rebel is a sky blue metallic with silver shimmer.  This was my favorite of the collection.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.
Zoya Hudson with Monet accent
Hudson is a light orchid metallic with silver shimmer.  I used 2 coats for full coverage.
Zoya Monet over Purity & Raven
I wanted to also show Monet over a black & a white so I choose Zoya Purity & Raven.  Monet is a multi-colored cellophane glitter topper in a light pink base.  It does slightly tint the polish it goes over, but I don't think you can tell much except for on Purity.  I think it looks best over Dillon & Raven, but over Purity it looks like sprinkles on frosting which is a cute look.

You can buy the polishes for $9 each (Monet is $10) at

Zoya Magical PixieDust review

*The polishes in this post were sent to me for my honest review*
Today's post is on the three new Zoya Magical PixieDust polishes.  These polishes differ from the other PixieDust polishes because they holographic glitter mixed in.  Each polish went on well & covered in two coats--no base or top coat.
Lux is a rose quartz Magical PixieDust.  It is a very pretty polish, but it's my least favorite--for some reason it just looked "dirty" (dusty?) to me.
Zoya Lux with Cosmo accent nail
Cosmo is a silver Magical PixieDust.  This one is my favorite, but I love silver.

Zoya Cosmo with Vega accent nail
Vega is a lighter blue Magical PixieDust.  This is a very pretty color & my second favorite from the collection.
Zoya Vega with Lux accent nail.
Overall these are very pretty polishes & I'm sure they are/will be hugely popular, but I prefer the regular PixieDust polishes.

Zoya Naturel review

*The polishes in this post were sent for my honest review*

Today I have my review for Zoya's Naturel collection.  When I first saw this collection I thought it looked nice, but didn't think I would ever really wear any of the colors, but when I swatched them I loved them.  Everyone of these polishes had amazing formula & went on smoothly in two coats.  I didn't use a topcoat for any of these so you can see how shiny they dry on their own.
I'm not sure what happened, but none of my pictures are color-accurate.  I'm not sure what it was, but no matter what I tried none of my pictures came out matching the color of the polish.
First up is Normani, a "sable mauve cream".  My first picture is under white light & is too grey & my second picture is in natural light & is still off-color.
Zoya Normani

Zoya Normani
Next up is Odette, a "sultry orchid maroon cream".  My first picture under white light is a bit light in color & the second picture in natural light is a bit too purple.  This formula was just a bit runny, but nothing major.
Zoya Odette

Zoya Odette
Brigitte is a " bombshell mauve cream".  The first picture under white light is a little too light & too brown & the second picture under natural light is too purple.  This one was also a bit runny, but didn't really affect application.
Zoya Brigitte

Zoya Brigitte
Rue is a "boudoir blush cream".  the first picture under white light is too washed out/light & the second picture under natural light is too purple/not dusty enough.  I *really* wanted to like this one because when I see Rue the first thing I think is Rue McClanahan & I just love her, but this was my least favorite out of the collection.
Zoya Rue

Zoya Rue
Taylor is a "light toffee cream".  The first picture under white light is too yellow/green & the second picture under natural light is too dark/grey.
Zoya Taylor

Zoya Taylor
Chantal is a "French Vanilla cream".  The first picture under white light is too yellow & the second picture under natural light is washed out.
Zoya Chantal

Zoya Chantal
All in all I like this collection way more than I thought I would & I really like how Normani, Odette & Brigitte look when I wear them.

Galaxy nails

This is my first ever attempt to do galaxy nails.  Yeah, I'm a bit behind everyone else, but honestly, I don't care if something is popular or whatnot.
I started off with two coats of Sinful Colors Whipped over a base coat (I should have used a matte topcoat for a basecoat so my nails weren't shiny at all):
Sinful Colors Whipped
Whipped went on amazing & dried quickly (as most mattes do).  I love how this polish is a great black matte & it was only $1.98 at Walmart.
Over the black I used a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust then I used Pure Ice Platinum Magic base coat (white), Zoya Robyn (blue), Zoya Pippa (yellow) & Zoya Lara to create the "galaxy" & then put a few dots of white on my nails for stars, added a bit of Fairy Dust over the galaxy & topped everything with a coat of Nina Ultra Pro matte topcoat (GREAT matte topcoat!):

Galaxy nails
I don't love them, but I don't hate them.  I think part of the reason I don't like them is because of the sparkle from Fairy Dust--I didn't want that much sparkle. I will probably try this look again (& hopefully like the outcome more) since it only took about 10 minutes to do the galaxy part.
Have you ever tried doing galaxy nails?  Do you like or hate the look?

New Year's Eve nails (video!)

For New Year's Eve I decided to use all of my silver/holographic nail polishes to have very blingy nails then I realized how many I had & chose 10 different polishes to use (is it bad I have so many that are similar?).  Here's a list of polishes I used & in the order I used them:
base coat (1 coat)
Nicole by OPI Make a Comet-ment (1 coat)
China Glaze Glistening Snow (1 coat)
China Glaze Fairy Dust (1 coat)
Pretty Polish Spectraflair Topcoat (1 coat)
Out The Door Northern Lights (1 coat)
China Glaze Nova (1 coat)
NYX Girls Spot Light (1 coat)
Finger Paints Colorful Collage (1 coat)
China Glaze Techno (1 coat)
Hot Mess Lacquer Yankee Star (1 coat)
Gelous (1 coat)
Diamond Dry topcoat (2 coats)
I couldn't get a good picture at all since my nails were so shiny, but here's a short video (the video couldn't focus either, but you get the idea of what they look like):

If you would like to know what any of the polishes I used look like on their own please leave me a comment & I will take a bottle shot to post.
Anyone make a New Year's resolution?  Mine is to do/go to/try something new every month this year.  Hope I can accomplish that.
Wishing everyone a wonderful 2014!
